I never use shortening for anything, and as soon as I finished the class, I threw away the rest of my tub of Crisco. (I might've kept it, but I was moving to a new apartment, and I sure wasn't going to lug that hated thing around...)<br /><br />Your cake looks great! Thanks so much for sharing the trick of using a wet dish towel to help the cake bake evenly. I never thought to do that! I always hate when the edges of a cake get overdone.
